Tales of Boats and Paddles

To give you an idea of how and why boats and paddles get built, here are some of their stories. Not every boat is always a complete success nor is any boat ever a complete failure. We build and we learn.

A King Island Replica
This is my first attempt at building what I thought of as slow and bulky cargo kayaks of the Bering Straits region. I built the boat and found that it is indeed roomy and capable of carrying lots of gear, but surprisingly, this boat is also nimble and fast and not at all heavy and sluggish as I had feared. As an extra bonus, this boat is also very comfortable with plenty of room to stretch out inside. Read more.
